NEWSLETTER No. 255 October 16, 2012

President’s Report 16 October 2012.

Good morning members and visitors. As always, it is lovely to see you here.
Last month we were all enthralled by Sandra Bates and her tales of the Ensemble Theatre’s
productions, past and present. A very inspiring and off-the-cuff talk. Many thanks to Sandra.

Fourteen of us had a pleasant outing to Campbelltown via the Botanic Garden at Mount Annan
which is probably worth visiting all on its own. At Campbelltown, we visited The Japanese
Garden, The Sculpture Garden and The Art Gallery, which had a lot of us agog with the modern
performance art exhibited. Were we repulsed or intrigued? After lunch, we visited the Information
Centre and its little museum, which is charming.

I for one look forward to the outings regardless of the destination as it is always somewhere I
would not go on my own. It is also a day out and the camaraderie is so pleasant. Marie, Eleanor
and Judy put a lot of effort into our outings and we would really like to see as much participation
as possible. This month they are arranging an outing by train so there is minimal expense, and
next month we will go the the Ken Duncan Gallery which will be an easy day. Please sign up.

Our Christmas funcion is only two months away! It will be at Mandalay on December 11th, 12:00
for 12:30. Choice of menu–two mains and two desserts, plus the usual drinks and canapes on
arrival, wine with the meal, and cheese, crackers and chocolates after. Cost will be $60 for club
members, and $65 for guests and we hope to see as many of you and your guests as possible.
Marie and Co. Have the forms today for your choice. Please pay today or by next month’s meeting
at the latest.

I have it on good authority that the Art and About photographic exhibit in Hyde Park is well worth
the visit and is on until October 21st.

Once again, eleven of us had a wonderful walk last week from Huntley’s Point to Gladesville
via the Environmental Walk, and quiet streets with charming homes and gardens for us to
enjoy. We then thoroughly enjoyed a lovely lunch at Bistro Meme in Gladesville–highly
recommended.
