THE PROBUS CLUB OF NORTH SYDNEY                               Newsletter 397 20 February, 2026

PRESIDENT’S REPORT - Barbara B

March is rapidly approaching, bringing our  Annual General Meeting, and election of  officeholders for the forthcoming year. I  would like to encourage anyone who is  able to contribute a few hours each month  to consider taking on a position on the  committee.

Taking part in the club as a committee  member gives you the opportunity to  influence the activities the club offers and  to contribute to the social calendar  development. It is your chance to support  the club and make a real difference.

There are a number of positions which  will need filling in March. If you are  interested in any of the positions which are  becoming vacant, please take the  opportunity to talk to those committee  members who are stepping down to learn  more about their role. The sad reality is  that if no-one nominates for a role, the  number of activities we currently enjoy  may have to be reduced.

I would like to thank Douglas for stepping  in at the last minute in January to run both  the committee and general meeting in my

last minute absence. I look forward to  seeing everyone at our February meeting.

WALK - Lindsay K

Our first walk for the year is the new  Greenway Walk 10 March, in the inner  west. We will meet at the Two Penny cafe,  next door to Eternity Cafe, in the Grand  Concourse of Central Railway station at  10am for coffee. We will be catching the  10.38am Light Rail to Dulwich Hill. We will  be getting off at Hawthorn Stop to  commence our walk to Dulwich Hill.

It is an easy walk mostly flat, but with  occasional stairs It will take about an hour  and 20 minutes to walk to Dulwich Hill. It  is less than 5 kms. There are art

installations and historical sights to stop  and look at on the way plus parks. We  should arrive at Dulwich Hill by 12.30  where we will have lunch at Busy Bees Cafe. Looking forward to seeing you  there. We will return via the Light Rail. Anyone wanting to come via ferry  (Pyrmont Wharf), should be at the Pyrmont  Bay Light Rail stop before 10.48 am.

Last walk - Mosman Bay to  Cremorne

OUTINGS - Jocelyn M

The outing on 3 February to the Sydney  Museum’s Unearthed exhibition was  attended by 13 members who met for a  coffee in the sunny forecourt prior to  enjoying this historical exhibition.

Our visit included two 10 minute talks, one  about the Museum itself and one an  introduction to the Unearthed Exhibition.  The exhibition included a fascinating  documentary on the archaeological dig  held at the site from 1983 to 1991. We  were then free to explore the exhibits at  our leisure. At noon we met for a tasty  lunch in the forecourt of the Museum.

MOVIES - Peter W

This month’s film on 24 Tuesday February  at the Orpheum, at a time to be advised, is  Marty Supreme. It stars Timothée  Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow and has  been described as an exhilarating sports  comedy, involving ping pong. It has been  nominated for 10 Academy Awards.

CHANGE OF OUTING - Robin S  CANCELLATION OF NORMAN LINDSAY  GALLERY TRIP 3 March
