June 2011 Newsletter and Activities

PRESIDENTS REPORT 21st JUNE 2011

A very warm welcome to all members and guests.

At the May meeting we had a most interesting and informative talk by Robin Miller on how Centrelink could help us, which was illustrated by a series of PowerPoint slides.
The trip to the Radio Museum at Kurrajong was a fascinating experience I don’t think I have ever seen so many Wirelesses in one place and it was all the more amazing that it was basically the work of one ably assisted by his wife without the usual government financial assistance.
The walk Oriel had organised for us, this month, had to be cancelled due to wet weather. This walk from Rhodes along the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway will no doubt be re scheduled at a future time. The Foreshores trail and the visit to the Abbotsford Rowing club for lunch something all walkers can dream about for now.
At our next meeting Joe Bollen the flag manager for the Sydney 2000 Olympics will speak on “Flags of the World”
Our next outing on 28th June is “in the Footsteps of the Masters”. This is a tour of the Hawkesbury Valley painting sites of some of our famous painters. It should be a most interesting tour unfortunately it has been fully booked so can take no more members. If you cannot go, please tell Valerie so that your place can be allocated to someone on the waiting list.
