Presidents Report 19th July 2011
It was very pleasing to see so many members at the last meeting and in addition I was delighted to welcome the new members and hope they will enjoy our company.
I was a little late in expressing my desire to go on the outing on 28th June “In the Footsteps of the Masters” so am unable to comment on this outing. But I have booked myself a place on the next one, which is an Explorer trip to the Menangle Road, which should be very interesting. There are, I understand, a few tickets left which our Outing Director Valerie would be very pleased to sell.
The speaker at the last meeting Joe Bollen gave us a most informative talk on “Flags of the World”. I had feared that this would be a very staid talk, but Joe gave us a most interesting talk on the world and the protocol of how flags should be hung which I did know existed.
We have received a request from The Probus Centre – South Pacific to amend our constitution once again. The necessary amendments will be tabled at this meeting and voted on at the August meeting. The proposed amendments are of a technical nature and have been considered by your committee and who have recommended they be adopted. A few copies have been made available at reception desk for those who wish to study them in detail.
