President’s Report 16th August 2011
A warm welcome to all members and guests.
At the July meeting we had an amusing talk by Barbara Westerway on the trials and
tribulations of her husband’s attempt to win a place in the NSW parliament which we
understood was not her wish.
The monthly outing was a very interesting tour of Campbelltown and Camden which I
personally had not visited for nearly 40 years and the changes were such that I hardly
recognized anything so it really was fascinating.
The excursion on 23rd August is to the Powerhouse Discovery Centre Collection
Stores where we have a tour of their exhibits of Music, Furniture and the Sydney 2000
Olympic Games. And also see the “Greening of the Silver City Exhibition.”
I would like to remind Probarians that at the September meeting John Williams,
Antique Dealer and Auctioneer, will be commenting on and valuing antiques which are
brought to the meeting by our members. So I hope that we will see an interesting
selection of items for him to see, and for those members who say they have no
antiques, the definition of antiques will be very wide on this occasion.
At this meeting we will be voting on the amendments to the Constitution which were
tabled at the last meeting. The committee have looked at the amendments and are
able to recommend them to the members.
