President’s Report 17 April 2012
I extend a very warm welcome to all members and guests.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for electing me to the position of President. I hope that I
will be able to live up to the high standards of previous Presidents. I would also like to
thank Richard and last year’s committee for their hard work and for such a happy successful
year.
I look forward to working with the new committee and thank everyone for maintaining or
taking up their new positions. The club cannot run successfully without the help of these
members and I hope we have a great year.
At the AGM, Richard spoke to us of his time in Hong Kong in the Colonial Service. It was
most enjoyable to hear his anecdotes. Thank you Richard for this.
We again had our Arts and Crafts Exhibition at the March meeting. We had a lovely
selection of work by quite a number of members. Thanks to all for their participation and to
Peter and Gwen for organising it.
For the March outing, 18 of us travelled to Woy Woy and the Central Coast including Pearl
Beach and Patonga. It was a lovely day and most enjoyable.
John hosted a nice lunch at the Masonic Club in the City, which was enjoyed by eight
of us and two overseas visitors.
We appreciate Oriel’s continuing to organise our walks which are always great fun. The
March walk was in the City: Wynyard, Cahill Walkway, Government house grounds and theBotanic Garden. We enjoyed a gorgeous Sydney day. The April walk was was through the
Cumberland State Forest at Pennant Hills.
Just a reminder that your annual subscription is now due. I know many of you paid this at
the March meeting, but if you have not done so, now is the time. The dues continue at $30.
If you are ever unable to come to a meeting, please give an apology to your carer so that
they can send you a copy of the newsletter. Carers would appreciate a stamped, selfaddressed
envelope for this purpose.
