NEWSLETTER No. 257 January 15, 2013

President’s Report 15 January 2013.

Greetings everyone and my very best wishes for 2013. I hope it will be a happy and
healthy one for all of us. I also send best wishes to our members who are recovering
from illness and accidents and hope they will be with us again soon.

I understand that the November speaker was very interesting, that the outing to Ken
Duncan was very successful, and the December walk was enjoyed by all who
attended. I was sorry to miss all of these activities, but I was enjoying quality time
with my gorgeous grandson in London! Thanks to Richard for chairing the meeting in
my absence.

Our Christmas function at Mandalay was a resounding success and enjoyed by all.
Perhaps the doubters will take part again. A lot of the success was due to the efforts
of Shelagh, Ian and Marie, and I cannot thank them enough for all their time and for
doing so much while I was away. I was very glad to be back in time for it. Also
thanks to the choir, Bob and Dora, and Maurice. Excellent!

I have to report that the committee has decided that we need to increase the
membership subscription to $35. Subscriptions cover the club contribution to Probus
SP, magazines and room hire. This is the first increase since 2006. The subs are due
in March. We also have to increase the cost of our outings to cover the cost of the
bus. I hope you will all be understanding.

May I ask those in attendance to please turn off their mobiles during the meeting and
if they must take a phone call, to please take it outside as a matter of courtesy.

Membership report: The Club has received a letter of resignation from Robeyne B
due to work commitments on Tuesdays. Our current membersip is 50 (18 men and 32
women).

January Birthdays:
Shelagh K 5, Nita R 5, Josephine T 22, and Peter M 29.
