It is with great sadness that I inform everyone of the death of Jenny L. Jenny had a great sense of humour and a strong mind. She had been unwell for a while. The funeral at Macquarie Park on Monday, 6th February, was well attended. Our sincere condolences of Richard and his family.
At our next meeting, (AGM), we will elect a new committee. We all look forward to some new faces on the Committee, who will help move the Club forward. We also encourage members to bring friends along to our activities. Word-of-mouth is a most effective way to attract new friends/members. Also under consideration is promotion of the Club via local newspapers.
In addition, at our next meeting we will hold an exhibition of members’ art and craft work, appropriately labelled. Works will include paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, embroidery, quilting and cabinet work.
Membership Report: Our current membership stands at 28 women and 21 men.
Many Happy Returns of the Day for Your February Birthday: Joan H 04, Brenda O 26.
Notice Regarding Proposed Changes to Carers System
Due to increasing use of email, the following changes are suggested:

3. Apologies can be given via friends or by contacting a Committee Member.
4. Inactive members will be sent a hard copy as usual.
5. Messages regarding member or changes in procedure will be sent by email. Those not on email will receive a phone call.
6. Ian S will continue to check the roll, post newsletters and contact those not on email.
Note: All our Probus meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be held on the 21st of March 2017. The committee meetings are conducted in the Northbridge Golf Club, usually on the first Tuesday of the month at 10am. Members are welcome to observe.
Program of Activities
Guest Speakers: Today we welcome Jay Allen, whose topic is “Melanoma Survival”. Next month for our AGM, two Club members will be speaking: Evelyn K will talk about leaving Europe, and Ches W will tell us about the Mona Lisa.
Probus Walkers: Tuesday 14th March 2017. Fish Markets via Anzac Bridge, Jubilee Park and Glebe foreshore. Easy walking with beautiful harbour views to be enjoyed. We start with a coffee before commencing over the bridge and will end at the fish markets for lunch.
MEET: 9:30am Park Street bus stop (between Pitt/George Sts) outside Criterion Hotel/Woolworths, to catch the 9:37am 389 bus. Approximately 5 klms.
Probus Outings:
Tuesday, 28th February. We will travel to the Wollongong Botanical Gardens departing at 9:00am, via the Grand Ocean Road. They have a 10-seater buggy and walking tours, which are booked for 11:30am. Our time in Woollongong will be limited due to the distance we are travelling and the need for our driver to be back reasonably on time. I am therefore suggesting we bring our own picnic lunch and bottle of water. Picnic tables are available. There are also cafes nearby. We will need to be on our way home by about 2:00pm. The entry cost is free, but the tour fee is $11.00, organized by the Friends of the Park. There are picnic tables with attached seating throughout the garden. Bus cost remains at $30.00.
Tuesday 28th March. We will spend some time floating around the harbour on a ferry or two! Meet at Circular Quay, Wharf 3 at 8:55am to catch the F3 line 9:07am ferry to Cockatoo Island for morning tea. Leave on the 11:19am ferry to Circular Quay arriving at 11:47, and then on to Wharf 2 to catch the F7 line 12:10pm ferry to Watsons Bay, arriving at 12:27pm for lunch at ‘Doyles on the Wharf Seafood Takeaway and Bistro’. Bookings are not available, but if tables are not available there is a park nearby with plenty of seating. Return via the 15:03pm ferry to Circular Quay.
Saturday 29th July. Metropole Hotel Katoomba for the replaying of old scripts of The Goon Show. The plan is to take the train to Katoomba on Saturday, for dinner and the show in the evening, and the train home on Sunday. Information is available at today’s meeting or otherwise by request.
The Art and Craft Display is On! The committee has decided to proceed with the proposed Art and Craft Display at the AGM in March. Bring along any of your original creations—painting, pottery, embroidery, knitting, cabinet work, whatever! Prepare your own identifying label, bearing your own description of the work and your name (eg., Blue Mountains landscape, watercolour, Mary Brown). Please let the Secretary know what you will be bringing so that proper display facilities can be arranged.
