THE PROBUS CLUB OF NORTH SYDNEY
Newsletter 381 16 July, 2024
PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Douglas
As we are heading off very soon, you are left in Barbara's good hands.
Mary Ann and I attended the inaugural meeting of the Cluster of Clubs on the North Shore. It will result in a lot of cooperation between the 10 Clubs.
I mentioned a possible outing to the Muogamarra Reserve. It is too complicated requiring permits and with difficult access. I'd urge anyone who is interested, to organise your own trip to this hidden gem up past Cowan. It is only open on the weekends from August 17 to September 22.

REPORT ON PREVIOUS WALK - Lindsay
The weather looked a bit dodgy at first, this morning but it did manage to clear up to a reasonable day. We even had blue sky at the end of it. Seven of us finally met up at Bondi Junction to get the bus to Coogee. Penny has covid so wasn't able to make it but as my ankle has sufficiently mended, I was able to step in.
We had coffee at Steve & Marli Cafe at Coogee. From there we set off for Maroubra. It was overcast at first but it eventually cleared up. It was a lovely walk. The Path was in good repair, and we made to the Bay Hotel Maroubra at 12.50pm where we had lunch. Walkers were Ivan, Peter , Robin , Sandra, Mary, Joan and myself.
NEXT WALK - Lindsay
Probus Walk Tuesday 13th of August, Watsons Bay to South Head and return.
Meet at Circular Quay Wharf 2 to catch the 10.15 ferry to Watsons Bay. At Watsons Bay we will have coffee at Seasoned, 23 Military Road Watsons Bay (near the bus terminus). From there we will set out to walk to South Head. It is an easy walk, about 1.5 hours and we will have lunch at the Watsons Bay Hotel. I did notice near the start there was a boggy patch but hopefully that will be dried up by the time of our walk. There are some stairs but an easy walk on a paved pathway. Hope to see you there.
MOVIES – Peter W
The probable next cinema outing will be on Tuesday 23 July at the Orpheum. Depending on scheduling the movie will be either of the following:
Mr Blake at your service - Features John Malcovich and Fanny Ardant in a movie about a widowed British businessman who takes a job as a butler of a manor house in France to keep alive the memories of his late French wife. He tries to restore the manor to its former beauty.
Treasure - Features Stephen Fry and Lena Dunham. An American journalist travels to Poland with her father to visit his childhood places. But the father, Eder, a holocaust survivor, resists reliving his trauma and sabotages the trip creating unintentionally funny situations.
