President’s Report
The big event for the past month was that one-quarter of our members went to Armidale, under the guidance of Valerie.  The event was enjoyed thoroughly and good contacts were made with the Armidale Probus.  On behalf of our Club, our secretary Clive has sent a letter to the President of Armidale Probus thanking him and his members for their hospitality, and hoping to return the hospitality when Armidale visits Sydney.
Clive will mention the latest events concerning the Reform Group and the Probus South
Pacific Limited.  I noted in my last report that the annual report of PSPL is at last available, and we now have correspondence from the Chairman of PSPL explaining some aspects of that report and defending some of their decisions.  The letter will be tabled, but there is no mention of the  reason that half the New Zealand clubs have broken away from PSPL and formed their own organisation.
In the annual report, the accountant noted that there is “some uncertainty as to whether the Company will be able to pay its debts as and when they fall due.”  PSLP could be made insolvent and prevented from trading, but the Chairman stated in the annual report and in his letter that means are in train to continue trading and reverse the loss.  No details are given.  But, as we can see, the difficulties within PSPL continue.
Membership Report:  We plan to induct 3 new members at this meeting:  Val F, and Brenda and Paul O.  This will bring our membership to 62: 37 women and 25 men.
Many happy returns for your Nov3ember birthdays:  Geoffrey C 7, Clive
W 9, Linda A 11, Marie A 15, Mary Ann I 21, Peter B 26, Evelyn K 26 and Jenny L 28.

PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES
GUEST SPEAKERS:   Today we welcome Michael Peters, who will present Part 2 of his
Napoleon and Wellington story.  Next year will include speakers on a range of interesting topics:  Red Cross on Emergency Response, Dying with Dignity, Midget Submarines in Sydney Harbour, and Digital Photography, to name just a few.
PROBUS WALKERS:  Tuesday 9th December:  Cremorne to Mosman Bay. Our traditional annual “Kent Memorial Walk” will take us to Neutral Bay Wharf for coffee, and then by bus to Cremorne Wharf for the start of the walk.  (Cremorne Wharf is closed at the moment, undergoing refurbishment.)  This is a very pleasant walk along a harbourside scenic path to Mosman Bay.  At Mosman, we catch a bus to the Junction for lunch at the Buena Vista Hotel.  Non-walkers are welcome to join us at the Hotel (upstairs) around 12 noon.  MEET at 9:40am Wharf 4, Circular Quay, for the 9:55am ferry to Neutral Bay. Then, at 10:43am, we take the 225 bus to Cremorne Wharf.
Notes: 1) No walk is scheduled for January, 2015, due to hot/humid weather.  2) On
Tuesday, February 10th, 2015, no walk is scheduled but a luncheon is planned at “The
Little Snail,” at Darling Harbour.  French cuisine, three courses, 5/6 choices each course, cost $38.00.  Public transport to door.  Walkers and non-walkers welcome.
OUTINGS: Tuesday 25th November:  Money taken for this outing to the Medical and
Nursing Museum at Little Bay.  This is a really interesting tour; the Museum is steeped in history and has been restored to its original 1914 state.  The cost of the tour is $5.00, to be paid on the day.  Lunch will be at George’s River Sailing Club.  Bus leaves at 9:30 am, and the cost is $30.
Tuesday 16th December:  Christmas Lunch at the Cammeray Golf Club.  Money and choice of menu would be much appreciated today because the information is needed by the Golf Club.  It will be a fun day, with a  lovely Christmas lunch, lucky door prizes and carols–a great way to end the year!  Not to be missed!  Cost $75 for members and $80 for guests.
Tuesday 27th January:  Hawkesbury River Cruise.  Names taken for this outing, which is by public transport.  We catch the 9:22am train from Hornsby Station to Brooklyn, where we board the Hornsby Cruises Ferry to do the “Riverboat Postman’s Run” on the Hawkesbury River.  The cost of $44, which includes morning tea and a delicious
Ploughman’s Lunch on board, must be paid by our January 20, 2015, meeting so we can confirm numbers attending.  If you would like to have a friend come along, please let either Eleanor or Marie know.
