President’s Report  -  July 2016
Last week’s walk from Circular Quay to Rushcutters Bay with lunch at Watsons Bay, was fantastic.  The walk took us around the Harbour, past Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, through Wooloomooloo and Kings Cross.  The next walk is at Botany, around Sir Joseph Banks Park.
Our last outing, to the Tramway Museum at Loftus, was a huge success.  The next outing is a tour of the Opera House.
Our speaker today is Gerald Walsh, and his topic is ASIO.
I would like to draw to the attention of all members the items of correspondence from Probus South Pacific Ltd. (PSPL).  We are looking for more details from PSPL regarding the Probus Constitution.  We may have this information for discussion at this meeting.

Many Happy Returns of the Day for Your July Birthday:  Talia W 07, Colin W 08, Oriel T 12, George T 13 and Ann G 26

Guest Speakers:  Today we welcome Gerald Walsh, who will talk about ASIO.
Next month, we will be joined by Ambre Holland, whose topic is “On Being a
Concert Pianist,”

Probus Walkers, Tuesday 9th August:  Sir Joseph Banks Park, Botany.
This is an easy and interesting walk on the site of the first Australian Zoo, and now features many animal structures symbolizing this.  There is also a lake which is home for many water birds.  We will start with coffee at Botany, then continue down to the Park, past the old Sir Joseph Banks Hotel, walk around the lake and then across reclaimed land to a walkway out into Botany Bay.  After retracing our steps to the Park, we have lunch at the new Sir Joseph Banks Hotel.  Easy approx. 4 klms.
MEET:  At the bus stop on the Pacific Highway outside of St. Leonards station at 9:15am to catch the next M20 bus to Botany Bay.`

Probus Outings,
Tuesday 26th July:  We have a tour booked at the Opera
House.  We need to check in on the lower concourse at 10:30am for a 10:45am start.  Meet outside Wharf 2 at 10:00am.  I need to pay and finalise numbers in advance for this tour, so please pay your $28 today.  A tour lunch has been booked at ‘Buckley’s’ for 12:30pm.

Tuesday 23rd August:  We will travel to St. Peters by public transport to the Fairground Follies.  This is a collection of restored/operating musical mechanisms which operated in streets and fairgrounds in years past.  We need a minimum of 24 people for the tour to operate.  The tour commences at 10:30am, and lasts two and a half hours.  Morning tea will be provided, as well as a ride on the carousel!  Cost TBA.
Transport:  The train for Sydenham station leaves Town Hall at 9:24am and Circular Quay at 9:30am.  Get out at St. Peters station and catch the nearby 418 bus, which stops at an intersection approx. 200 meters from the facility.
Lunch will be at Souths Juniors at Kensington.

Fifth Tuesday Luncheon 12 Noon 30th August.  The restaurant is the Opera Dining, at 344 Pacific Highway, Crows Nest, 9437-3742.  The cuisine is Italian infused modern Australian.  Contact John N for further information.
