It is with great sadness that I inform everyone of the death of Peter Bates on Sunday, 31 July. Peter was at the RNSH with a chest infection when he passed away. Peter, a longstanding member, had been unwell for a number of months. The Committee has passed on the Club’s condolences to Peter’s family.
Judging by the huge turnout of family and friends at the Ensemble Theatre for his farewell on Monday 8 August, he was a hugely respected and well-loved person. It was a very moving tribute to Peter.
Last week’s walk through the Sir Joseph Banks Park in Botany was great. The walk included the site of the first Australian zoo and a beautiful lake, home for many water birds. The next walk is around Manly.
Our last outing was a lovely tour of the Opera House. The next proposed outing, depending on numbers, is to Fairground Follies.
Our speaker today is Ambre Hammond, who will talk about being a virtuoso pianist.
