From the President: ANNUAL REPORT
My final contribution to the club newsletter is the Annual Report, required from each Probus club president on the completion of their 12 months term in office.
I have realised that the main role of the president is to co-ordinate the many activities of the club and more particularly the enthusiastic team of committee members you elected 12 months ago. Over the past 12 months we have welcomed eight new members. Two long serving members have now gone onto the inactive members list, and sadly two members on that list have passed away. There have been no resignations. Thanks to Eleanor, Shelagh and Willemina for their role in meeting and greeting.
TALKS. Many members have commented favourably to me upon the continuing diversity of speakers and subjects, and I am grateful to Douglas for arranging this important part of our meetings.
OUTINGS. This time consuming role has been organised once again by Evelyn and I thank her on behalf of the club for the variety (whale watching to the Bowral tulip festival!) of these monthly visits.
WALKS. Quite a number of Probus clubs do not cater for walkers, and we are fortunate to have had the continuing interest of Oriel with her knowledge of varied suburban walks. Thank you Oriel on behalf of the enthusiasts who join you each month.
THANK YOU ALSO
To Polly for producing each month our Newsletter—the best possible way of keeping all members informed about club activities.
To Jeanette who unfailingly produces and distributes our Minutes of meetings within hours of the meetings concluding.
To Ian, a quizmaster “par excellence”—we all learn new facts and figures from each quiz.
To Paul who has kept tight control of our finances, which have a very satisfactory balance for a non-profit organisation.
To John for his regular organisation of the luncheon club venues.
AND—-to all others who assist each month with recording, receipting and ensuring that all other activities are attended to.
Best wishes to incoming President Patrick Wale and the team, and my appreciation to all members for your interest and support in the last 12 months.
Membership Report: Our current membership is 56, (33 female and 23 male). At our February meeting we welcomed Robin S as a new member. However, sadly I have to advise of the passing of Tony K, one of our long standing members, and on behalf of the Club we send our condolences to his partner Shelagh, family and friends.
Many Happy Returns of the Day for your March Birthday: Kristina T 01, Don B 08, Lis T 18, Elizabeth S 30.

Today’s walk will traverse the many paths through and around Bicentennial Park. These will include walking through bush, around the mangrove boardwalk and Belvedere Lake including the shipwreck. We will visit the Rose Garden and the Treillage Tower. Coffee at the commencement of the walk and we return to Concord West for lunch at the local hotel. Walk classed as Easy approx., 5 klms.
MEET: 9:30am Town Hall Station Platform 2 for 9:42 train to Concord West.
Probus Outings: Tuesday 27th March: The Concourse at Chatswood. We must be at the box office at 10am, where we will meet to tour the many interesting spaces. There are lifts and seats around, if required. A staff member will attend the box office at this time to give us a tour of the facility. If no one is there, the tour will not happen. The tour is free. We can have lunch on site.
April. No outing this month as many of us will be on the trip to Longreach.
Tuesday 22nd May: Wollongong Planetarium. Now located at Wollongong University, Science Space is the only dedicated immersive science experience in NSW and exists to advocate for
and foster science literacy. Entry cost is $12. and Bus $30. Lunch TBA.
Note: All our Probus meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of every month at 10:15am. The next meeting will be held on the 17th of April 2018. The committee meetings are conducted in the Northbridge Golf Club at 9:00am on the same day as the meeting. Members are welcome to attend.
